dPulse Welcomes United Gramophone


MARCH 8, 2010 – dPulse Recordings / Ovrtone Music Group, Inc. have announced  the addition of new label brand United Gramophone.

Featuring proven established artists and releases from the expansive dPulse roster as well as new artist partners, United Gramophone will become Ovrtone Music Group’s premiere label brand for frontline releases and products in both digital and specialty formats.

The introduction of United Gramophone will enable dPulse/Ovrtone to showcase its frontline releases as a premiere brand, while also creating flexibility for the introduction of rock/indie/alternative and pop releases. dPulse and its existing partner imprints will continue to focus on emerging and independent artists of all genres.

Formed in 2003 as an electronic/dance indie label, dPulse Recordings continues to diversify as a unit of Ovrtone Music Group, Inc.. The introduction of United Gramophone empowers the company to better position its rock/alternative and indie offerings.

All United Gramophone releases will be available at major digital music retailers, such as iTunes, 7 Digital, Amazon, Rhapsody and Napster, and exclusive digital and bundled products will also be available via dPulse/Ovrtone Music retail sites, such as jookbx.com and dpulsedigital.com. United Gramophone will also see distribution via existing dPulse and Ovrtone Music Group physical partners, which include selected releases thru Fontana (US/North America); Sony Music Germany and Cargo Records Germany (Europe) and others.

‘Demon’ / ‘Axe’ Rocks eMusic

Released 03.02, the Vile Evils + Pop Will Eat Itself Demon / Axe of Men 2010 Remix EP is now a multi-genre hit at popular digital music store eMusic. On the heels of the 4-track ‘Digital Single’ release of ‘Demon (feat. Clint Mansell)‘ and ‘Axe of Men 2010 (Crabbi Remix)’, the new remix EP is lighting up eMusic’s sales-based Power Charts.

As of 03.05, Demon / Axe of Men 2010 (Remixes) is charting at: #7 (Post-Punk); #8 (Breakbeat); #8 (Leftfield); #10 (Drum n’ Bass) and #16 (Techno). The 4-track digital single is also #11 on the Post-Punk genre charts.

dPulse/Ovrtone Adds Spotify, 7 Digital

dPulse Recordings/Ovrtone Music Group, Inc. has entered into direct distribution agreements with four new retail partners, with more to come this week. Effective immediately, new releases from dPulse and Ovrtone artists and partner labels will be serviced directly to digital music powerhouses Spotify and 7 Digital, as well as new retailers gogoyoko (Iceland) and dancedownloads.eu (Netherlands).

dPulse/Ovrtone will have further announcements of new direct arrangements this week, and dPulse and partner indaba Records also have entered a distribution agreement for compact disc releases in Australia and New Zealand via Foreigndub and Vitamin Records.

Vile Evils + PWEI Single Enters Top 10

Charging  up 3 spots to #9 on the eMusic PowerCharts, the Vile Evils + Pop Will Eat Itself digital single ‘Demon (feat. Clint Mansell)’ / ‘Axe of Men (2010)’ becomes the first new Vile Evils/Graham Crabb/PWEI release to enter the Top 10 on a digital sales chart.

Among the Top 3 digital music stores in the US (behind only iTunes and Amazon), eMusic specializes in indie music, and ‘Demon’/'Axe of Men‘ appears on the Post-Punk genre chart, where the release is joined by albums and singles by The Cure, Interpol, The National and The Fall.

At #9, Vile Evils + Pop Will Eat Itself edge out the classic Modest Mouse release The Fruit That Ate Itself, which rounds out today’s Top 10.

With the announcement that Graham will focus on PWEI for future projects, the forthcoming ‘Demon’ / ‘Axe of Men’ Remix EP (releasing 2 March and available in advance on the dPulse store) will become the final release of Vile Evils.
